What we do

Wild Places Education

We provide a nature-based early childhood education service located right on the doorstep of the stunning Paroa beach. We are open Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.15am to 3.15pm, with Paroa Playcentre serving as our welcoming base. From there, Wild Places Paroa is just a short hīkoi/walk away from many elements of nature's playground that hold a special significance to our unique place. We invite you to come and join us as we play, explore, and learn in te ngaherehere (the bush), te tātahi (the beach), te awa (the river), and te kariwhenua (the vegetable garden). Let the incredible richness and diversity of the natural world engage and inspire our learning experiences together. We are open during term time and love to have whānau engage with the programme.

Ko ahau to taiao, ko te taiao, ko ahau.

I am the environment, and the environment is me.

Adventure waits!

Together we adventure as we learn and play. We provide full wet weather gears, all you need to bring are the gumboots! In the sunny times, in term 4 and term 1, we provide sun hats too. We even have wet weather gear for siblings who may come with whānau to join the the fun. We have our own special bush location too, that is a great base for play, imagination, learning and a welcome cover from the sun in the summer months. The beach provides the BIGGEST sandpit you can find! The puddle jumping is amazing, and our mud kitchen is a busy social place for play. We have rope challenges, bush swings, bottle rockets and more to entertain. We also have art supplies, books and everything else you’d expect to find. We have fireside cooking, stories and kai, as well as climbing nets galore.
